Chasing the LighT
2025 SOLO EXHIBITION
By Sarah McDonald
Where: Mezzanine 55, Rundle St Kent Town.
When: May 1 – 18 2025
“In this collection of oil paintings, I explore the interplay of light and landscape, capturing the fleeting beauty of hills and forests as they transform under the changing skies. Each scene reflects a moment of connection to the natural world, where light becomes the storyteller, illuminating, obscuring, and revealing the quiet drama and poetry of the land.
The rolling hills and towering trees are not just subjects; they are vessels for light’s dynamic dance. Morning mists, golden sunsets, and the soft blush of twilight create a dialogue between shadow and radiance, evoking a sense of wonder and serenity. My work seeks to convey the ephemeral magic of these moments, inviting viewers to pause and witness the landscapes in a new way.
Through layered textures, vibrant colour harmonies, and expressive paintwork, I aim to capture not only the physical forms of the landscape but also the atmosphere and emotions they inspire. This exhibition is a celebration of light’s power to shape our perception of place, reminding us of the beauty that exists in the everyday interplay of earth and sky.”
