ABOUT ME

SARAH MCDONALD

“I surround myself with images from my travels and inspiring environments that I have photographed. Encouraged by memories and guided by instinct, I am inspired to paint what I have experienced, responding to my two passions, colour and light.

Each piece reflects my personal response to the image and is an expression of that. Using primarily palette knives to apply the luscious oil paint, I am interested in creating a variety of surfaces, layering paint and embracing the “accident’.  I enjoy exploring the paint's physicality and allowing the work to develop and change throughout the building process.”
